Carolyn Harriett "Pinky" Gessner Obituary (1925 - 2011)

Gessner, Carolyn Harriett "Pinky"(Breeden), age 86, of Lebanon, TN passed away Sunday, December 18, in her home on her son's farm. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Carolyn Breeden, four brothers and her late husband of sixty years, Lee Gessner, Jr. Survived by family who cherished her are children Lee and Deborah Gessner, III of Lebanon; Carolyn and Keith Post of WI; and Lorraine and John Hansen of NJ; grandchildren Lee IV, Kimberly, and Drew Gessner; Alex, Philip, and Lauren Post; and Chelsea, Abigail, and Perri Hansen. Mrs. Gessner was a homemaker and operated a guest lodge in Ocean City, NJ. A Sunday school teacher for more than fifty years, she served numerous times as superintendent leading Sunday Schools, vacation Bible schools, and after school Bible clubs. She worked in the Better Beginnings Nursery School of Englishtown, NJ which was a precursor to the Head Start program, and studied at the Central Jersey Bible Institute in Chesterfield, NJ. Her tremendous love of storytelling, geography, history and baseball made her a favorite among children. Pinky loved tending to the needs of others. She regularly collected donations for the Atlantic City Rescue Mission and the American Heart Society. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.
