Kenneth Edward Tyree

TYREE, Kenneth Edward- age 83 passed away Wednesday December 31, 2014 in the University Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry L. & Pauline Bass Tyree. Survived by wife of 57 years, Jean Motlow Tyree; cousins, Melody & Sven Stewman & their daughter Aleta & Eddie Stewman & family. Kenneth was a loving husband and a gracious friend to many. Ken's first job was delivering groceries, by bicycle, from the family market. After graduating from Lebanon High School, he entered the Air Force where he served as a mechanic. He received his engineering degree from Tennessee Tech. He became a manager for Highpoint Industries, later joining TRW where he finished his career. After retirement, he loved being a part of the "Ross Gear Retirement Bunch" and its monthly meetings. Ken was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church Choir sustaining the bass section. He enjoyed caring for the wildlife that surrounded the home he shared with Jean. Hummingbirds and deer became pets. Peaches, a fawn, was especially adored. Visitation will be held on Saturday January 3rd 10:00 a.m. until a Service of Celebration at 11:00 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Sherard Edington will conduct the services. Interment, Wilson Co. Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Music Scholarship Fund.
